Foot strength + breathing quality = huge untapped athletic potential
The feet: This is probably the most undertrained region of the body. The feet are not given the attention they deserve based on how much stability, strength, and power they can unlock and grant the body in most sports and activities. This is mainly because most shoes don’t allow the feet to do what they have the potential to do. Their ability to provide stability and lightning-quick control when they hit the ground is not seen when most shoes are worn. Training barefoot outside and working on foot function can help your athletic performance a lot, even with shoes back on (although minimal shoes will allow you to capture more of the benefits).
Breathing: The other relatively untapped area for better performance. Quality diaphragmatic breathing practice to build up diaphragm endurance, strength, and capacity can turn you into an athletic machine. The diaphragm is a key muscle that not only acts to breathe but also is a main ‘core’ muscle and spinal stabilizer. Train your breath on a daily basis and give it the emphasis it deserves to increase your performance and get rid of power leaks.
