Increase the size of your stress cup
The stress cup is a concept that explains what happens to stress when it is in our body, the symptoms that occur as a result and how to eliminate it by increasing the cup size while decreasing the stress levels.
Stress is stress according to your nervous system… It doesn’t know the difference. Your body only had a limited capacity to deal with stressors. Stressors can be anything: work-related stress, relationship problems, high-intensity exercise, consuming alcohol, getting poor sleep, being in the cold etc. The body adapts to stressors and gets stronger, but if it is too much it cannot properly adapt and the opposite occurs. You get run-down and weaker.
If you think of the total amount of stress your body can handle as a cup, then you can increase the size of the cup by knowing how to manage and reduce stress so you can adapt to it better. Increase the size of your stress cup by going back to the basics:
– Get good sleep
– Eat well consistently, and supplement as needed
– Move regularly
– Get out into nature regularly
– Be mindful, step back and observe yourself regularly
– Maintain good breathing patterns
– Socialise and connect with people regularly
– Meditate (there are many simple ways to do this)
You can use simple lifestyle choices to both increase the size of your stress cup and reduce the contents in the cup as needed. Your body will adapt and show resilience if you don’t constantly redline it.
